The Ninth Session of the Uganda Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church convened at Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe for a two-day gathering that combined spiritual reflection with key leadership elections for the next quinquennium.

Graced by leaders from the East-Central Africa Division (ECD), the session drew more than 150 delegates from churches and mission entities across Uganda. Delegates assembled to pray together, review the performance of various departments over the past term, and elect new officers to guide the work of the Union in the 2025–2030 period.

Also in attendance was retired Union president, Pr. Christian Alideki, whose active participation on the floor was widely noted. He contributed to discussions on departmental reports, offering historical context and counsel on the Church in Uganda's strategic direction.

Dr. Moses Maka Ndimukika (ECD Executive Secretary) with Dr. Moses Ruguri (ECD President)

Spiritual Start, Intense Second Day

The first day of the session was largely dedicated to arrivals, registration, and spiritual preparation. Delegates settled in and participated in a devotional program that set a reflective and prayerful tone for the work ahead.

The core business unfolded on Monday, 17 November 2025. Delegates first elected the Nominating Committee (NOMCOM), in line with Seventh-day Adventist practice, where the NOMCOM proposes names for leadership positions to the wider session for approval. The committee immediately commenced its work, discussing and prayerfully considering potential candidates.

Deliberations stretched late into the night, with the full list of departmental officers being released close to midnight, marking the culmination of an intense but orderly process.

Call to Growth and Faithful Stewardship

Speaking to the newly elected leaders and the delegates, the East-Central Africa Division executive secretary Dr. Moses Maka Ndimukika reaffirmed the Division’s strategic focus on church growth and spiritual maturity. He reiterated that the ECD is intentional about doubling membership, and specifically challenged the Uganda Union to reach 1.2 million members by 2030.

Dr. Ndimukika further emphasized that numerical growth must be matched by spiritual depth, urging members to grow into faithful stewards of the resources God has entrusted to them, time, talents, and means. The new officers were reminded that their leadership must inspire both evangelistic expansion and responsible stewardship at every level of the church.

As the Ninth Session drew to a close, delegates left Entebbe with a renewed sense of mission, a refreshed leadership team, and a shared commitment to advancing the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church across Uganda in the next five years.
