Silver Springs Adventist Church (SSAC) was filled with joy and thanksgiving this Sabbath as the congregation celebrated four young doctors who completed their medical internships. The honorees; Dr. Mary Abigaba, Dr. Enoch Shema, Dr. Pius Mugisa, and Dr. Justine Ndiwalana, were recognized in a heartwarming ceremony organized by the church to honor their commitment, perseverance, and faith in God throughout their medical journey.
Dr. Justine Ndiwalana, who completed her internship earlier than the rest, encouraged her fellow doctors to remain anchored in their faith. “Trust in God and follow wherever He leads,” she shared, inspiring both the congregation and her colleagues with her testimony of God’s guidance.
Dr. Pius Mugisa expressed profound gratitude for reaching this milestone, reflecting on the long and often difficult journey through medical school. “It has been a long road, but God has brought me through,” he said. He, along with Dr. Enock Shema, emerged as the best intern surgeons at Naguru Hospital, a remarkable achievement that drew applause from the congregation.
The surprise celebration visibly moved Dr. Shema. “I didn’t expect the church to organize such a ceremony for us,” he remarked, smiling. “It feels good to be seen and celebrated by your own church family.”
Dr. Mary Abigaba also expressed her joy and thankfulness. “This day is special,” she said. “There was a time we were uncertain if the government would support our internships, but God made a way, and we were admitted. Today is a testimony of God’s faithfulness.”
The celebration was made even more memorable with a beautiful cake-cutting moment, courtesy of the SSAC Men’s Ministries, whose generous gesture sweetened the occasion. The church sang songs of praise, shared words of encouragement, and rejoiced in what was described as a “special Sabbath of achievement and testimony.”
The event not only celebrated the doctors’ professional accomplishments but also highlighted the church’s continued commitment to support, pray for, and uplift its youth in their various fields of calling.
Indeed, it was a Sabbath to remember, one filled with gratitude, joy, and a renewed sense of purpose for the young doctors as they take their next steps in service to God and humanity.
