KAMPALA, Uganda — December 14, 2025 — The Central Uganda Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has elected Pastor David Simwogerere as its new President, replacing Pastor Samuel Kajoba marking a fresh chapter of spiritual leadership grounded in service, stewardship, and mission.
Born on January 23, 1970, Pastor Simwogerere’s journey is one shaped by faith, discipline, and a steady commitment to God’s mission. From his early education at Masooli Primary School and Mengo Senior School, to professional formation in electrical installation and engineering, his path reveals the quiet diligence of a man whose hands understood work long before his heart embraced pastoral calling.
Pastor Simwogerere pursued theological training at Bugema University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, and later expanded his ministry of care through a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from the same university. His academic growth across theology, psychology, leadership, and resource management has helped shape a leader who combines spiritual depth with practical wisdom, one able to preach the Word and also shepherd people through life’s complexities with empathy and clarity.
In an era when church leadership must speak to both spiritual growth and organizational responsibility, Pastor Simwogerere’s preparation positions him as a pastor-leader ready to guide a growing Conference with balance, accountability, and hope.
For nearly three decades, Pastor Simwogerere has walked faithfully with the Church in diverse pastoral and administrative roles. His service journey includes:
Associate District Pastor, Masaka
Pastoral leadership in the districts of Njeru, Kayunga, Masuliita and Najjanankumbi
Uganda Union Mission leadership as Stewardship, Development, and Trust Services Director
Most recently, served as Executive Director and President of the North Buganda Field of Seventh-day Adventists
Across these assignments, colleagues and congregations have come to associate his ministry with excellence, resource mobilization, team building, counselling, and a steady commitment to strengthening institutions for mission impact.
Those who have served alongside him point to practical evidence of this mission—seen in strengthened systems, mobilized teams, empowered members, and a renewed emphasis on faithful stewardship and spiritual growth.
Beyond pastoral ministry, Pastor Simwogerere has offered strategic leadership through various governance and service roles, including:
Chairperson, Board of Governors: Katikamu Seventh-day Adventist Secondary School, Kaloke Christian High School, and Nakaseke Seventh-day Adventist Secondary School
Council Member, Bugema University
Former Board Member, Bible Society of Uganda
Former Board Member, Merryland High School
Chairperson, Seventh-day Adventist Church Uganda Union Workers Savings SACCO
These responsibilities reflect a leader trusted not only for preaching and pastoral care but also for guiding institutions with integrity, supporting education, organizational sustainability, and responsible resource management.
While serving as President of the North Buganda Field, he championed a range of community outreach and development initiatives—including the advancement of Nakyewa Adventist Hospital and the establishment of the Migeera Women Center of Influence, now operational and hosting an Adventist primary school and skills center. Under his leadership, churches have been constructed, and the Adventist presence across North Buganda has become more visible, vibrant, and impactful through his visionary direction.
As President of the Central Uganda Conference, Pastor Simwogerere assumes leadership at a time when the Church is called to deepen discipleship, strengthen families, empower youth, and expand gospel impact in communities across the territory.
Many members describe him as a leader who listens, a down-to-earth person, a counsellor who restores hope, and a mobilizer who builds, but above all, a pastor whose heart beats for souls. His election signals a renewed commitment to mission-focused leadership, guided by faith, unity, and the conviction that the Church must remain both spiritually vibrant and mission-ready.
