MUSDAA Welcomes New Patron, Dr. Timothy Makumbi
MUSDAA, Uganda’s oldest student association, has a new patron — Dr. Timothy Makumbi — inaugurated on Sabbath 9th August after a vibrant Freshers’ Orientation Week at Makerere University. The appointment was recognized by CUC Youth Director Pr. Danstan Mulumba alongside MUSDAA leaders.

Makerere University, Kampala – 9 August 2025 — The Makerere University Seventh-day Adventist Association (MUSDAA), the oldest student association in Uganda, welcomed its new patron, Dr. Timothy Makumbi, during Sabbath celebrations on 9th August 2025.
The appointment was officially recognized by the Central Uganda Conference (CUC) Youth Ministries Director, Pr. Danstan Mulumba, in the presence of MUSDAA Chaplain Pr. Justus Perez and Elder-in-Charge Dr. Milka Singh. The Sabbath program culminated in Dr. Makumbi’s inauguration, marking a new chapter in MUSDAA’s rich history of campus ministry.
The event came at the close of a six-day Freshers’ Orientation Week, a long-standing MUSDAA tradition aimed at empowering new Adventist students at Makerere University. The week featured a series of seminars and inspirational talks from diverse speakers drawn from various walks of life, offering guidance, encouragement, and spiritual enrichment to the incoming class.
Founded decades ago, MUSDAA continues to serve as a spiritual and social anchor for Adventist students, fostering faith, leadership, and community service on campus. Dr. Makumbi takes on the mantle that was previously held by Dr. Peninah Kabenge. His leadership is expected to strengthen the association’s mission and impact in the years ahead.
Dr. Timothy Makumbi Kabanda is a Senior Lecturer at Makerere University College of Health Sciences and a specialist in Breast and Endocrine Surgery at Mulago National Specialized Hospital.
He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from Mbarara University, a Masters of Medicine (M. Med) in Surgery degree from Makerere University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Sikkim Manipal University/ ISBAT, a Diploma in Emergency Medicine from Sapienza, Rome University, and he is a PHD Fellow at Makerere University interrogating MicroRNAs Profiling, Bio-pathologic Characterization and Survival of Early Onset-breast Cancer among Ugandan Women.
Dr. Makumbi also serves on the board of the Uganda Women Cancer Support Organisation, and is a Specialist General and Endocrine Surgeon with African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF), Flying Surgeons.
