Bugema, Uganda – The much-anticipated annual camp meeting of Kira-Central District officially began today, bringing together members from the four churches of Mt. Olives, East Kampala, Emmaus, and Silver Springs. The event is being hosted at Bugema Adventist Secondary School and promises to be a spiritually enriching week for all attendees.

Members began arriving as early as 10 a.m., filling the dormitories and camping grounds with vibrant energy, excitement, and anticipation. The Communication Department lead expressed gratitude for the smooth start, quoting District Communications Leader Mr. Enock Makanga, who remarked: “Day 1 began on a strong footing. The team came in fully prepared, and operations took off smoothly in most areas.”

The camp meeting opened with a stirring message from the co-speaker. In her sermon, she called on believers to keep their eyes fixed on Christ as they carry the gospel to the world. Using the story of Peter walking on water, she reminded the congregation that faith thrives when centered on Jesus, but falters when attention shifts elsewhere. Furthermore, she said Fear, Doubt, and Distractions prevent us from becoming disciple makers.

This year’s camp meeting holds special significance for Silver Springs Church, where some of the members are experiencing the event for the very first time. Having joined the Adventist faith just ten months ago, their presence highlighted the growth and unity within the district.

The main speaker, Pastor Samuel Mwaniki, is expected to officially begin his series of sermons on Monday, September 25th. His messages are highly anticipated, and the atmosphere is already filled with promise and hope for transformation.

What makes this year’s gathering even more unique is that it has been organized by the Men’s Ministries of the four participating churches. Their leadership and coordination have set the stage for a memorable week, with expectations of deep spiritual revival, fellowship, and renewal of commitment to God’s mission.

As the camp meeting continues, members are looking forward to uplifting sermons, music, and communal worship that will strengthen their faith and inspire them to take the gospel beyond their local congregations.
