Mt. Zion Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kigoma made a significant step forward in its development on Sunday, July 6, 2025, with a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new church sanctuary. The event was both spiritual and symbolic, representing the growth of the congregation and its commitment to expanding God’s work in the Kigoma region.

The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Emmanuel Ssali-Kisakye, the former Kampala “A” District Leader, who now serves as the Education and Communication Director at the Central Uganda Conference (CUC). He was joined by Pastor Benon Lincoln Kiggundu, the current Zone Leader, who has been instrumental in supporting the church’s development.

In his opening remarks, Pastor Kiggundu commended the church leadership and members for their faith and persistence in reaching this milestone. “This is not just a construction project,” he said, “it is a statement of faith and vision for a stronger spiritual home for our members and the Kigoma community.”

Pastor Ssali-Kisakye, who previously served the district, expressed deep joy at returning for such a special occasion. He emphasized the importance of building not only physical structures but also strong spiritual foundations. He challenged members to remain united and prayerful as they move forward with the building project.

The ceremonial turning of the soil was conducted with prayers, songs, and participation from all age groups, symbolizing the collective ownership and unity of the church body. Church elders, youth, women’s ministries, and children all took part in this significant moment.

The new sanctuary is expected to provide increased space for worship, fellowship, and community outreach programs. As construction begins, the congregation remains hopeful and committed, trusting in God to provide the resources and strength needed to complete the project.
