Kirinya, Wakiso District – The Emmaus Better Living Center (EBLC), in partnership with Emmaus Adventist Youth Ministries, organized a charity run on Sunday aimed at raising funds to renovate wells within Kirinya and Bukasa parishes. The event, which attracted members from Emmaus, Silver Springs, and other Adventist congregations, was graced by the ADRA Country Director, Elder Mwanza.
By 6:30 a.m., Namataba Sports Ground was already beaming with eager participants, including children as young as two years old who took part in the 5-kilometer race. Two categories were organized: 5km and 10km, and both drew an enthusiastic turnout. The youngest runners were cheered on as they crossed the finish line, a vivid example of the event’s family spirit and community commitment.
Elder Mwanza flagged off the race after a word of prayer, commending the initiative as a model of community-driven development. Elder Mwanza thanked members for their participation before releasing the runners onto the marked routes.

Safety was a priority throughout the event. Master Guide Emmanuel Ssemwogerere led participants through stretching sessions before and after the races, ensuring that the event concluded without a single injury. Organizers hailed the run as a success and pledged to maintain it as an annual tradition.
Church members also expressed optimism about supporting other Adventist charity events in the months ahead, including the ADRA Run scheduled for November 2025 and the Celebrations Run organized by Bunga Central in December 2025.
The Emmaus run was not only a fundraising exercise but also a symbol of solidarity, health, and hope. Proceeds will be used to restore vital water sources, reinforcing the church’s mission to serve both the spiritual and physical needs of its surrounding communities. “Every step you take today brings clean water closer to the families of Kirinya and Bukasa,” he said,
