Kyanja, Uganda – Bethel Adventist Church, a vibrant congregation planted in July 2024 following the impactful Homecoming Crusade, joyfully celebrated its first anniversary yesterday. In just one year, the church has grown in leaps and bounds, not only in membership but also in its community impact.
Since its establishment, Bethel Adventist Church has become known for its active role in outreach and community service. Its ministry has gone beyond the pulpit, touching lives through medical camps, community runs, mission book distributions, and other initiatives aimed at promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
In preparation for Bethel @ 1, the church organized a series of activities to mark the milestone. The celebrations began with a Fun Run on Sunday, 10th August, bringing together church members, residents, and friends in a lively event promoting fitness and fellowship. A spiritually enriching Week of Prayer led by Pastor Bidawo Edward from Bugema University’s School of Theology, inspired attendees with messages of faith, hope, and dedication to God’s work.
The highlight of the anniversary will be a Special Thanksgiving Service on 16th August 2025, expected to be graced by Pastor Kyeyune Melchizedek, the Executive Secretary of the Central Uganda Conference (CUC). The service will bring together members, friends, and well-wishers to reflect on God’s faithfulness and to dedicate the church’s mission for the years ahead.
Since its establishment in July 2024, Bethel Adventist Church in Kyanja has made tremendous strides in both spiritual growth and community development. Over the past year, the church has achieved several significant milestones that reflect its commitment to fostering a thriving, vibrant congregation and impacting the wider community positively.
Bethel Adventist Church began with a humble fellowship of just 50 members. Through dedicated outreach efforts, inspiring worship services, and relevant community programs, the membership has grown steadily to over 200 active members. This fourfold increase is a living testimony to the church’s welcoming spirit and effective ministry.
Recognizing the importance of nurturing the faith of the younger generation, the church completed the construction of a dedicated Children’s Chapel. This space provides a safe and engaging environment for children to learn Bible truths and participate in age-appropriate spiritual activities. This year, Bethel Adventist Church held its very first Vacation Bible School (VBS), drawing children from within and outside the congregation. The program combined fun, education, and spiritual teaching, creating an enriching experience that strengthened children’s faith and involved parents and volunteers in meaningful ministry.

Understanding that youth are the church’s future, Bethel Adventist Church established vibrant youth clubs that provide a platform for young people to grow spiritually, socially, and in leadership skills. These clubs actively engage in community service, Bible study, and fellowship activities that foster unity and purpose among the youth.
As Bethel Adventist Church looks to the future, its leadership and congregation remain committed to being a center of spiritual revival and community transformation in Kyanja and beyond.
