Mumbere Edgar, a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Polymer, Textile, and Industrial Engineering, emerged as the Best Student from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Busitema University, a public multi-campus university in Eastern Uganda, at its 16th Graduation Ceremony on Friday, 28th November 2025.
Edgar’s achievement is a vivid reminder that consistent hard work, discipline, and focus lead to excellence even in one of the university’s most demanding engineering programmes. Throughout his studies, he distinguished himself with excellent grades, a strong work ethic, and a passion for innovation in materials, textiles, and industrial processes.
The teaching staff in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology describe Edgar as a diligent and humble student who was always ready to go the extra mile, whether in the classroom, the laboratory, or during group projects. His performance reflects the growing number of Adventist youths embracing STEM, positioning themselves as change agents ready to contribute to Uganda’s industrialisation and technological development.
Beyond academics, Edgar is a committed Seventh-day Adventist, and he openly attributes his success to God’s guidance, supportive family, dedicated lecturers, and a focused spiritual life. Balancing faith, studies, and personal growth, he has served as an inspiration to many of his peers, especially young people seeking to excel without compromising their values.
As he graduates, Edgar represents the kind of graduate the Adventist Church in Uganda is proud of — technically competent, value-driven, and ready to contribute to the church, industry, and society. His journey sends a strong message to current and future students: with commitment, faith, and hard work, it is possible to rise to the top, even in highly competitive and technical fields.
Mumbere Edgar now joins the growing community of Ugandan Adventist engineering alumni who are expected to play a key role in driving innovation in Uganda’s industrial sectors.
